
Getting Your KOSME KSB 4000 Lamps Up to Speed
If you’re running SACMI rotary blow molding machines, you know the pace is brutal. Everything moves fast. To keep your preform temperatures steady, your lamps can’t afford to lag. That’s exactly why we built our replacement lamps for the KSB 4000—we focused on the start-up response. The heat needs to hit now. If a lamp takes too long to warm up, you’re looking at cold spots in your PET preform. That usually means uneven walls or that annoying pearlescence in the finished bottle. Not a great look. To stop that, we use a high-density tungsten filament. It’s calibrated specifically for the KSB 4000’s voltage so it hits peak wattage almost the second you flip the switch. No waiting around. Then there’s the glass. We use heavy-wall quartz because thin glass bows when things get hot. We also added a specific coating to the quartz. Instead of wasting heat by warming up the oven walls, it pushes the infrared energy right into the plastic where it belongs. And the best part? They’re drop-in replacements. The connectors are standard industrial fits, so you won’t be spending your afternoon rewiring the oven. A quick word of advice, though. These lamps are high-output. They keep up with SACMI’s rotation speeds easily, but that puts more stress on the filament. Here’s the trick: make sure your voltage regulators are dialed in. If you try to “cheat” a faster heat-up by over-volting the lamp, you’ll burn the filament out way too soon. Also, double-check your cooling fans. When you’re running these at full tilt, you want to make sure the oven housing isn’t choking on the heat.
